Can't Browse to UNC Paths

So I've built my server, joined it to my domain, I'm logged in as a user with full privileges, and I keep getting an error that "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

But I am permissions.  What is going on here?

Another featureof the security-conscious world we live in.  Happily the fix is simple:  remove the IE enhanced security configuration.  Visit Add/Remove Programs (via start, run, appwiz.cpl if you hate the mouse as much as I do), navigate to Windows Components and uncheck this box:

You'll be back to running unsafe devices, paths, and files in no time.
